Wildcat Trail (#833)

Current Conditions
This trail is not maintained during the winter months. Visitors should be prepared for snow-covered or icy conditions and exercise caution when traveling in the area.

This trail is located within Mill Creek Wilderness. There are sections of this trail that are well forested with mixed conifer and a sparse understory, but expect to pass through many sections that have experienced recent wildfire events. If you elect to start from the south at White Rock Campground then this trail skirts the wilderness boundary for a couple of miles before progressing completely inside the wilderness. From the south, it is a moderate climb up to a ridge, which it then contours for a while before eventually descending into Whistler Spring at the Wildcat North Trailhead. If you desire to see more of this great wilderness, you can also take Belknap Springs Trail (#833A) to the west and connect with Twin Pillars Trail (#832). NOTE: This national forest has a long history of cattle and sheep grazing, and because of this if you decide to explore this wilderness area in the summer months you may encounter livestock. Please use caution and do not approach the animals. View a vicinity map of Mill Creek Wilderness and trails
