    As a result of the Eagle Creek Fire, the Closure Area Description is as follows:
    National Forest System lands administered by the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area within Multnomah County, State of Oregon:


    •Oneonta Gorge: The area within the walls of Oneonta Gorge between the Historic ColumbiaRiver Hwy (Hwy 30) and the Horsetail Falls Trail bridge spanning Oneonta Creek.

Forest Order

Pursuant to 16 USC§ 551 and 36 CFR 261.50(a) and (b), the following acts are prohibited on the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area and on the Hood River Ranger District, Mt. Hood National Forest within the State of Oregon as shown on the attached map. This Order supersedes Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area Forest Order 06-22-01-24-08 and Mt. Hood National Forest Order 06-06- 06-24-02, signed on December 2, 2024, and July 8, 2024, by Donna Mickley and Meta Loftsgaarden,respectively. This Order becomes effective July 7, 2025, and remains in effect through July 7, 2026,unless rescinded sooner.Prohibitions
1.Going into or being upon an area closed for the protection of public health or safety.(36 CFR § 261.53(e)).
2.Being on a trail. (36 CFR § 261.55(a)).
Closure Area Description

•Oneonta Gorge: The area within the walls of Oneonta Gorge between the Historic ColumbiaRiver Hwy (Hwy 30) and the Horsetail Falls Trail bridge spanning Oneonta Creek.

Exemptions:
Pursuant to Title 36 CFR 261.50(e), the following persons are exempt from this order:
(1)Persons with Forest Service Permit No. FS-7700-48 (Permit for Use of Roads, Trails, orAreas Restricted by Regulation or Order), specifically exempting them from this Order.
(2)Any Federal, State, or local official or member of an organized rescue or firefighting force inthe performance of an official duty.
(3)The following Agencies engaged in business in the area:
•Bonneville Power Administration
•United States Army Corps of Engineers
•Oregon Department of Fish & Wildlife for fish hatchery operations
•Oregon Department of Transportation
•Oregon Parks and Recreation Department

These prohibitions are in addition to the general prohibitions in 36 CFR part 261, subpart A. Violations of these prohibitions are punishable by a fine of not more than $5,000 for an individual or $10,000 for an organization, or imprisonment for not more than 6 months, or both. (16 U.S.C. § 551, and 18 U.S.C. §§ 3551, 3559, 3571, and 3581.) Purpose: This closure is necessary to provide protection for forest users from hazards present in the area following the Eagle Creek Fire.
