  • Forest Order 06-22-01-21-14: Overnight Use and Large Boat Launch Prohibition

To protect public safety and natural resources, certain activities are not allowed at the Klickitat Mile One recreation site in the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area, located in Klickitat County, Washington. These rules went into effect on November 2, 2021, and will stay in place until officially lifted. This order replaces a previous one issued on July 2, 2021.

    What’s Not Allowed:

    1. Camping at the site.

    2. Parking or leaving a vehicle at the site in ways that go against posted signs or instructions.

    3. Launching large boats — meaning any boat that can’t be carried by hand and needs a trailer to be moved.

    Specifically:

    • No overnight use of the Klickitat Mile One area — this includes camping or leaving a vehicle overnight.

    • Only small, hand-carried boats may be launched from this site.

These rules apply to all National Forest lands at Klickitat Mile One, as shown on here.
