  • Garnet Fire Closure Order 05-15-52-25-12

    The Sierra National Forest has issued Forest Order No. 05-15-52-25-12 expanding the Garnet Fire closure area, effective September 13-19, 2025. This supersedes previous Forest Order No. 05-15-52-25-11. The expansion of the Forest Closure Order aligns with the Fresno County Sheriff's Office evacuation orders, modifying existing closures with the aim of enhancing firefighters and public safety.

Forest Order

Pursuant to 16 U.S.C. § 551 and 36 C.F.R. § 261.50(a) and (b), and to provide for public safety, the following acts are prohibited within the Sierra National Forest.  This Order is effective from September 13, 2025, through September 19, 2025. 

 

  1. Going into or being upon National Forest System lands within the Garnet Fire Closure Area, as shown on Exhibit A and described in Exhibit B. 

36 C.F.R. § 261.52(e).

 

  1. Being on any National Forest System roads within the Garnet Fire Closure Area, as shown on Exhibit A and described in Exhibit B. 36 C.F.R. § 261.54(e).

 

  1. Being on any National Forest System trails within the Garnet Fire Closure Area, as shown on Exhibit A and described in Exhibit B. 36 C.F.R. § 261.55(a).

 

Pursuant to 36 C.F.R. § 261.50(e), the following persons are exempt from this Order:

 

  1. Any Federal, State, or local officer or member of an organized rescue or fire-fighting force in the performance of an official duty.

 

  1. Persons with a Forest Service Permit No. FS-7700-48 (Permit for Use of Roads, Trails, or Areas Restricted by Regulation or Order), specifically exempting them from this Order.

 

These prohibitions are in addition to the general prohibitions contained in 36 C.F.R. Part 261, Subpart A.

 

A violation of these prohibitions is punishable by a fine of not more than $5,000 for an individual or $10,000 for an organization, or imprisonment for not more than six months, or both.  16 U.S.C. § 551 and 18 U.S.C. §§ 3559, 3571, and 3581.

The boundary of the Garnet Fire Closure begins at the intersection of Trimmer Springs Road and the boundary line of the Sierra National Forest at Big Creek, then continues north, then west along the Forest boundary line to its intersection with Forest Service Road No. 10S69, then continues north along the west side of Forest Service Road No. 10S69 to its intersection with Forest Service Road No. 10S02, then continues north along the west side of Forest Road No. 10S02 to its intersection with Forest Road No. 10S17, then continues northeast along the north side of Forest Service Road No. 10S17 to its intersection with Dinkey Creek Road, then continues north along the west side of Forest Road No. 9S09 to its intersection with Forest Road No. 9S10, then continues east along the south side of Forest Road No. 9S10 to its intersection with Forest Road No. 9S62, then continues east along the south side of Forest Road No. 9S62 to its intersection with the southern boundary of the Dinkey Creek Roof Pendant Geological Area, then continues east, then north  along the boundary of the Dinkey Creek Roof Pendant Geological Area to its intersection with Dinkey Creek, then continues northeast along the south side of Dinkey Creek to its intersection with the boundary line of the Dinkey Lakes Wilderness, then continues south along the boundary line of the Dinkey Lake Wilderness and across Dusy Creek at Dusy Meadow to the boundary line of the John Muir Wilderness, then continues south along the boundary line of the John Muir Wilderness to its intersection with the boundary line of the Monarch Wilderness, then continues south along the boundary line of the Monarch Wilderness to its intersection with the Kings Wild and Scenic River, then continues west along the north shore of the Kings Wild and Scenic River through the confluence of the North Fork of the Kings River, then continues west along the north shore of the Kings River to its transition into Pine Flat Reservoir, then continues north along the shore of Pine Flat Reservoir, back to the starting point at the intersection of Trimmer Springs Road and the boundary line of the Sierra National Forest at Big Creek.
