Prescribed Fire Pile Burning in Gregory Beach Area

Release Date: March 7, 2025

REDDING, Calif., March 7, 2025 — The Shasta Lake Management Unit will be implementing a prescribed burn on Monday, March 10, 2025, pending ideal conditions.

Firefighters will be burning 58 acres of piles in the Gregory Beach area of Shasta Lake, 12 miles north of Redding, CA. These piles were created last spring to eliminate some of the dead and down fuels in the area, reducing wildfire risk.

Visitors and local community members should be aware that smoke from the burn is currently expected to drift northward and may be visible from Interstate 5, Lakehead and surrounding communities.
