Paynes Lake Trailhead
The trailhead is on Forest Road 41N14 west of Highway 3 between Etna and Callahan. Take either Forest Highway 3G002 southwest or 2G001 west from the highway to reach the forest road. Low clearance and two wheel drive vehicles use caution.
This short trail (#5506) connects to the Pacific Crest Trail at Paynes Lake in the Russian Wilderness.

Check the current fire restrictions and obtain a Calfornia Campfire Permit. No wilderness permit is required in the Russian Wilderness.
