The Blue Heron River Access Site offers a scenic and convenient gateway to one of Northern California’s most iconic waterways. Located along a gentle stretch of the river, this access point provides opportunities for boating, fishing, wildlife viewing, and relaxing by the water.

True to its name, great blue herons are often seen wading along the shoreline, especially in the early morning and evening hours. Ospreys, bald eagles, and other bird species also frequent the area, making it a favorite stop for wildlife enthusiasts and photographers.

- Limited shade is available for a few dispersed campers

- Make sure your campfire is Dead Out
A current California Campfire Permit is required to use a camp stove, barbecue or have a campfire outside of developed areas. Local fire restrictions supersede the campfire permit. Inquire at the Ranger Station before having a fire.
No fee
The Klamath River is a designated Wild and Scenic River. There are numerous rapids, cascades and waterfalls along the river. The difficulty of the rapids changes with the seasons, the water levels and flow rates. Boaters and rafters should research the river thoroughly before attempting to navigate on their own.
