Black Canyon Trail #106
The Black Canyon Trail takes off the Mt. Nebo Scenic Byway and drops down Black Canyon where it connects with Blackhawk Trail #084. Black Canyon is one of the most beautiful canyons in the area. A small stream runs in the lower portion of the canyon. This stream has numerous small pools and moss laden cascades. The trail ends at a grassy meadow which is surrounded by thick pines. The Blackhawk Trail connects with this trail in the meadow.
Connecting Trails:
Blackhawk #084. From the junction of the Blackhawk and Black Canyon Trail, you can either go south to the Sawmill Hollow-Nebo Creek Trail #130, or north to Bear Trap Ridge, Holman Canyon or Blackhawk Campground.

Directions
Access: From I-15 take Exit 250 into Payson. Travel south on Main Street to 100 North and turn left. Continue east to 600 East and turn right and head south for approximately 3-1/2 miles to the mouth of Payson Canyon. This is where the Mt. Nebo Scenic Byway begins. Continue driving up this road to the Monument Trailhead which is located on top of the national byway. On the right side of the road there is a paved parking area with restrooms (Nebo Bench or Monument Trailhead). On the left side of the road there is a leveled dirt parking area. Turn into the dirt parking area and park. This is where the Black Canyon trail begins.
