SPECIAL ORDER OF FOREST SUPERVISOR
WASATCH-CACHE NATIONAL FOREST
LOGAN RANGER DISTRICT
To reduce hazards for vehicles, and provide road, vegetative, and soil protection/management, and to prevent wilderness incursion, travel on the roads described below will be restricted when gated or signed as closed. The closure of the Smithfield Canyon Road will be in effect yearlong. The Green Canyon and Card road closures generally occur from about November 1 through May each year, due to hazardous snow conditions, or excess precipitation and as decsrcibed below,
Pursuant to 36 CFR 261.50 (a) and (b), the following acts are prohibited on the roads described below and as shown on the map. All lands affected are located on the Logan Ranger District, Wasatch-Cache National Forest. This order is in effect until further notice.
- Using any type of motorized wheeled vehicle and over the snow machines operating on snow on Green Canyon Road (#050), Smithfield Canyon Road (#049), and Card Canyon Road (#024), when signed as closed and/or the gate is closed. [36 CFR 261.54 (a)].
Pursuant to 36 CFR 261.50 (e), the following acts, or persons, are exempt from this order:
- Persons with a permit or contract authorizing the otherwise prohibited
act.
- Authorized Federal, state, or local officers, or members of an
organized rescue or firefighting force in the performance of official duty, when authorized by the District Ranger.
Areas Described: Green Canyon beginning at the gate located - West Section Line, Section 19; T. 12 N,; R. 2 E.; Card Canyon Road beginning at the gate located - W 1/2; Section 10; T. 13 N.;.R. 2 E.; Smithfield Canyon Road beginning at the gate located - SE 1/4; SW 1/4; Section 19; T. 12 N.; R. 3 E.; all Salt Lake Base and Meridian.

Violation of this prohibition is punishable by fine of not more than $5,000 or imprisonment of not more than 6 months or both (16 USC 551; 18 USC 3559 & 3571
(b) (6).
This order supersedes any previous orders/notices for the above described areas, and same said violation(s).
