CAMPFIRE RESTRICTIONS ON ROADS AND AREAS

 

PROHIBITIONS:

 

Pursuant to Title 36 CFR 261.50 (a) and (b) the following act is prohibited on the National Forest System roads and areas as described in this Order.  The roads and areas affected in this Order are located all within the Salt Lake Ranger District, Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest. This order is effect April 1st through October 31st annually

  1. Building, maintaining, attending, or using a fire or campfire upon or within 200 yards (600 feet) on both sides of the Farmington Canyon road (Forest Service road #007) and Ward Canyon road (Forest Service road #177) which includes the Buckland Flat area as described below and shown on attached map

EXEMPTIONS: 

Pursuant to 36 CFR 261.50 (e) the following persons are exempt from this order:

  1. Persons with special use authorization or other Forest Service authorization specifically exempting them from the effect of this Order.
  2. Any Federal, State, or local officer, or member of an organized rescue or fire fighting force in the performance of an official duty.
  3. Federal or State administrative personnel in performance of an official duty.

AREA DESCRIBED:

 

From the beginning of the Farmington Canyon road (Forest Service road #007) and 200 yards (600 feet) on both sides of the road going east to the pull out at the administratively closed Sunset campground, located in Township 3 North, Range 1 East, Sections 7, 8, 9, 16, 17 and 18 all within the Salt Lake Based Meridian as shown on the attached map.
From the beginning of the Ward Canyon road (Forest Service road #177) and 200 yards (600 feet) on both sides of the road going east to the Buckland Flat gate which includes the Buckland Flat area, located in Township 2 North, Range 1 East, Sections 21, 16and 15 all within the Salt Lake Based Meridian as shown on the attached map.

 

PURPOSE:


The closure is to reduce the risk of human caused wildfires to protect natural resources, life and property in the surrounding communities.

 

IMPLEMENTATION:

  1. This Order will be in effect when signed August 12, 2020 and shall remain in effect until October 31, 2021 or until rescinded.
  2. Attached map shows the area affected by this Order.
  3. Violation of the above prohibition(s) is punishable by a fine of not more than $5,000 

    for an individual, or $10,000 for an organization and/or imprisonment for not more 

    than 6months imprisonment.  [Title 16 USC 551, Title 18 USC 3571(b) (6), 

    Title 18 USC 3581(b) (7).

  5. This Order supersedes any previous Order(s) prohibiting the same, or similar acts prohibited by this Order in the areas (and/or roads or trails) covered by this Order.
