PROHIBITIONS

Pursuant to 16 U.S.C. § 551 and 36 C.F.R. § 261.50 (a) and (b), the following acts are prohibited on the National Forest System Area, Roads, Trails, Trailheads, and Recreation Sites in the Salt Lake Ranger District, Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forests. Described below and shown on the attached map incorporated into this Order as Exhibit A. This Order will be in effect when the area, roads, trails, trailheads and recreations sites are posted with signs as closed between September 10, 2025, and shall remain in effect through September 30, 2025, unless rescinded.

  1. Being in or upon the Area, Roads, Trails, Traiheads and Recreation Sites this includes all hikers, pedestrians, bicycles and any type of motorized vehicle as described below and shown on the attached map. [36 CFR 261.53(e)]

EXEMPTIONS

Pursuant to 36 C.F.R. § 261.50(e), the following persons are exempt from this Order:

  1. Persons with Forest Service Permit specifically exempting them from this Order or a written determination by a Forest Service authorized officer that a permit is not required under 
    36 C.F.R. § 251.50(e)(1) or
  2. Any federal, state, or local officer, or member of an organized rescue or firefighting resource in the performance of an official duty
  3. Federal or state administrative personnel in performance of an official duty.

DESCRIBED

The Area closure is 1300 feet in all directions of the Supreme Lift from the Bottom Terminal to the Top Terminal located in Township 3 South, Range 3 East, Sections 4, 9, and 10 all within the Salt Lake Based Meridian and shown on the attached map.

Albion Basin Road (Forest Service Road #80028) – 0.52 miles from Catherine Pass Trailhead to Albion Basin Campground Road #80221 located in Township 3 South, Range 3 East, Sections 4, 9, and 10 all within the Salt Lake Based Meridian and shown on the attached map.

Albion Basin Campground Road (Forest Service #80221) – 0.63 miles located in Township 3 South, Range 3 East, Sections 4, 9, and 10 all within the Salt Lake Based Meridian and shown on the attached map.

Cecret Lake Trailhead Road (Forest Service Road #80270) – 0.04 miles located in Township 3 South, Range 3 East, Sections 4, 9, and 10 all within the Salt Lake Based Meridian and shown on the attached map.

Supreme Bottom Terminal Road (Forest Service Road #80298-A) – 0.10 miles located in Township 3 South, Range 3 East, Sections 4, 9, and 10 all within the Salt Lake Based Meridian and shown on the attached map.

Closed Trails

Albion Meadows Trail (Forest Service Trail #1006) – 0.46 miles from Albion Basin Road (Forest Service Road #80028) to Alta Loop 4X4 Admin Road (Forest Service Road #80239-ADMIN) located in Township 3 South, Range 3 East, Sections 4, 9, and 10 all within the Salt Lake Based Meridian and shown on the attached map.

1008B – Catherines Connector B Trail (Forest Service Trail #1008B) – 0.51 miles from Supreme Bottom Terminal Road (Forest Service Road #80298-A) to the junction with Catherines Connector A Trail (Forest Service Trail#1008A) located in Township 3 South, Range 3 East, Sections 4, 9, and 10 all within the Salt Lake Based Meridian and shown on the attached map.

Cecret Lake Trail (Forest Service Trail #1010) – 0.81 miles from Albion Basin Campground Road (Forest Service Road #80221) to Cecret Lake located in Township 3 South, Range 3 East, Sections 4, 9, and 10 all within the Salt Lake Based Meridian and shown on the attached map.

Cecret Lake Spur Trail (Forest Service Trail #1010A) – 0.13 miles from Cecret Lake Trail (Forest Service Trail #1010) to the junction with Supreme Bottom Terminal Road (Forest Service Road #80298-A) located in Township 3 South, Range 3 East, Sections 4, 9, and 10 all within the Salt Lake Based Meridian and shown on the attached map.

Devils Castle Loop Trail (Forest Service Trail #1011) – 1.3 miles from Cecret Lake Trailhead Road (Forest Service Road #80270) to the junction with Cecret Lake Trail (Forest Service Trail #1010) located in Township 3 South, Range 3 East, Sections 4, 9, and 10 all within the Salt Lake Based Meridian and shown on the attached map.

Devils Castle Spur Trail (Forest Service Trail #1011A) – 0.45 miles from Devils Castle Loop Trail #1011 to Cecret Lake Trail #1010 located in Township 3 South, Range 3 East, Sections 4, 9, and 10 all within the Salt Lake Based Meridian and shown on the attached map.

Albion Campground Trail – Catherine Link (Forest Service Trail #1013) – 0.42 miles from Albion Basin Campground Road #80221 to the junction with the Catherines Pass Trail #1008 located in Township 3 South, Range 3 East, Sections 4, 9, and 10 all within the Salt Lake Based Meridian and shown on the attached map.

Closed Recreation Sites

Cecret Lake Trailhead located in Township 3 South, Range 3 East, Sections 4, 9, and 10 all within the Salt Lake Based Meridian and shown on the attached map.

Albion Basin Campground located in Township 3 South, Range 3 East, Sections 4, 9, and 10 all within the Salt Lake Based Meridian and shown on the attached map.

PURPOSE

The closure is for public safety while crews, equipment and helicopters are in the area installing lift towers and haul rope installation.

IMPLEMENTATION

  1. This Order will be in effect when the area, roads, trails, trailheads and recreations sites are posted with signs as closed between September 10, 2025, and shall remain in effect through September 30, 2025, unless rescinded.

  3. Unless otherwise expressly defined in this Order, the terms used in this Order are defined by the regulations of the Secretary of Agriculture, 36 C.F.R. Chapter II, Parts 200-299. If there are terms in this Order that are not expressly defined in the Order or 36 C.F.R. Chapter II, Parts 200-299, their meaning shall be determined by their plain language definitions.
  4. A violation of the above prohibitions is punishable as a Class B misdemeanor by a fine of not more than $5,000 for individuals and $10,000 for organizations, or by imprisonment for not more than six months, or both. 16 U.S.C. § 551; 18 U.S.C. §§ 3559, 3571, and 3581.

  6. This Order supersedes any previous Orders prohibiting the same or similar acts in/on the area, roads, trails, trailheads and recreation sites.
