PROHIBITIONS
Pursuant to 36 CFR 261.50(a), the following acts are prohibited on the National Forest System (NFS) lands within the Tom Best area on the Powell Ranger District of the Dixie National Forest described below and shown on the attached map incorporated into this Order (“Restricted Areas”):
1. Camping. 36 CFR 261.58(e)
2. Parking or leaving a vehicle in violation of posted instructions. 36 CFR 261.58(g)
EXEMPTIONS
Pursuant to 36 CFR 261.50(e) the following persons are exempt from this Order:
1. Persons with a special use authorization or other Forest Service authorization specifically exempting them from the effect of this Order.
2. Any Federal, State, or local officer, or member of an organized rescue or fire fighting force in the performance of an official duty.
3. Federal or State administrative personnel in the performance of an official duty.
RESTRICTED AREAS
The Restricted Areas are the 150 feet on either side of the portions of NFS roads 117, 130, and 646, which would otherwise be open to dispersed camping, designated by posted signs and shown on the attached map.
PURPOSE
The purpose of this Order is to protect wildlife habitat, wildlife, soil, water, and vegetation resources from the effects of recreational use and camping.
IMPLEMENTATION
1. This Order will be in effect on May 15, 2021 and shall remain in effect until May 15, 2026 or until rescinded, whichever occurs first.
2. A violation of the prohibitions in this Order is punishable by a fine of not more than $5,000 for an individual or $10,000 for an organization, and/or imprisonment for not more than six (6) months. [16 USC § 551, 18 USC §§ 3559, 3571, 3581].
