PROHIBITIONS 

Pursuant to 36 CFR 261.50(a), the following acts are prohibited on the National Forest System (NFS) lands within the Cedar City Ranger District of the Dixie National Forest adjacent to Highway 14, Highway 143, and Mammoth Creek Road, which are described below and shown on the attached map incorporated into this Order as Exhibit A (“Restricted Area”): 


1. Parking or leaving a vehicle in violation of posted instructions, parking of any construction-related equipment or trailers is prohibited. 36 CFR 261.58(g) 

 

EXEMPTIONS 
Pursuant to 36 CFR 261.50(e), the following persons are exempt from this Order: 

1. Persons with a special use authorization or other Forest Service authorization specifically exempting them from the effect of this Order. 

2. Any Federal, State, or local officer, or member of an organized rescue or fire fighting force in the performance of an official duty. 

3. Federal or State administrative personnel in the performance of an official duty. 

 

RESTRICTED AREA 
All NFS lands (Developed Parking Areas) on either side of Highway 14, Highway 143, and Mammoth Creek Road. 

 

PURPOSE 
The historic long-term parking and storage of vehicles adjacent to these roads is not consistent with the management of NFS lands and Scenic Byway designations. 

 

IMPLEMENTATION 

1. This Order will be in effect on April 5, 2021 and shall remain in effect until April 5, 2026 or until rescinded, whichever occurs first. 

2. A violation of the prohibitions in this Order is punishable by a fine of not more than $5,000 for an individual or $10,000 for an organization, and/or imprisonment for not more than six (6) months. [16 USC § 551, 18 USC §§ 3559, 3571, 3581].
