Colorado Trail - Blackhawk Trail

Blackhawk Trail (501) is an 11 mile segment of the Colorado Trail - Segment 26. This trail begins at the southwest edge of Celebration Lake (near Bolam Pass along FSR 578) where the Colorado Trail crosses the road from the northeast. Cross a small stream flowing out of the south end of the lake and begin a climb reaching seasonal springs at 0.1 miles and 0.6 miles. After 3.9 miles, you'll reach a small saddle. Turn left at this junction with the old Circle Trail coming up from Silver Creek and Rico. Reach the end of the Blackhawl Trail 50 ft before Hotel Draw Road (FS 550). If you continue, the Blackhawk trail (501) does join with the Highline Trail (520) just 315 ft further south.

Please note, access on (FS 578) Bolam Pass Rd. should be by high clearance vehicles only.

Getting There

Directions

From the Dolores Public Lands Office on Hwy 184 turn right onto Hwy 145 N heading into the town of Dolores. Continue 44.3 miles to Barlow Creek Rd. (FS 578). Turn right and continue on (FS 578) for 7.5 miles along Barlow Creek. At the Y intersection take +the left branch to Celebration Lake and the Colorado Trail access point. Total Drive Time to trailhead 1.5 hrs.

Trail is also accessed from south side via Hermosa Park Rd to Bolam Pass Rd (FS 578). High clearance vehicles only.
