Aspen Loop Trail

Aspen Loop Trail (631) boasts incredible natural beauty thanks to the thick aspen forests and the wild peaks of the La Plata Mountains. Hesperus Mountain, one of the most notable peaks in this San Juan subrange, is almost always visible along the route, towering at 13,000 feet. It is a multipurpose trail constructed by the San Juan National Forest and the Four Corners Trail Club. The trail is open to ATVs, motorized trail bikes, horseback riders, hikers, and mountain bikers. There is signage at most major intersections. There are multiple access points off of FR 560, FR 561, FR 350, and FR 556.

Getting There

Directions

From Dolores, drive south on CO HWY 184 towards Mancos. Turn onto Haycamp Mesa Road FR 556.

From Mancos, drive north on CO HWY 184 and turn right on CR 42/FR 561 toward Jackson Lake and Transfer Campground. Head up the road until it turns to dirt (approximately 8 miles). There are multiple access points off of FR 561, 560, 350, and 556.
