Buffalo Pass Campground

Current Conditions
Campground is scheduled to open for the 2026 season from May 19th to November 18th. Dates may change. Please contact the Saguache Ranger District at 719-655-2547 for current conditions and updates.

The campground is comprised of a single large loop, surrounded by a grass meadow in a ponderosa pine grove. There are 19 large, well-spaced sites, with 4 pull-through options. Sites 16, 17 and 18 sit on a dead-end spur with no turnaround. 

The open meadows are dotted with wildflowers. 

The campground is conveniently situated to State Highway 114 for an overnight stay.

This campground is first-come, first-served.

General Information

Upper Crossing Guard Station rental cabin is nearby ($75.00 per night). Reservations can be made through Recreation.gov or by calling 1-877-444-6777.

Mid-May to Mid-November

Quiet hours are from 10:00 pm to 6:00 am.

Fires in designated fire rings only. Make sure your fire is "Dead Out" and cold to the touch before departing the site. Pack In/Pack Out all trash. This is bear country.  Remain "Bear Aware" and store food properly while camping.

Interagency Senior/Access Recreation Passes provide a 50% discount to single campsites ONLY.

The 50% discount applies only to the fee for the campsite physically occupied by the pass holder, not to any additional fee or campsite(s) occupied by members of the pass holder's party.

Interagency Recreation Passes are Honored for Day Use.

Overnight Use:
Single and Double Site: $10 per night

Credit cards not accepted.

Dogs must be on a leash not longer than six feet in length.

Directions

Directions from Saguache, Colorado: Follow Colorado Highway 114 west for 27.6 miles, then take a gravel road 1.7 miles southwest into the Buffalo Pass Campground.

Parking

Maximum two vehicles per site.  Extra vehicle fee may apply.  Maximum length trailer is 30 feet.
