Cyclone Trailhead
This Trailhead serves as the access point for the Cyclone Trail No.1112.
This 8.6 mile trail provides access to a rather primitive section of the Routt National Forest. The trail begins at the site of an old gravel quarry used in building the Flat Tops Scenic Byway. The trail meets Rough Creek at mile 1.1. This crossing may be impassible during spring runoff. Continuing in a northwesterly direction, the trail slowly gains elevation for the next 1.8 miles (8,800 feet). At this point, it begins a descent of 240 feet to its crossing of Cyclone Creek. From this point you will steadily gain elevation until mile 5.75 you reach the Cyclone Park Trail No. 1038. This spur trail gains 600’ and gives access to the large open meadows at the top of Cyclone Park. The main trail then continues until it reaches the junction with the Stinsby Trail No. 1193, just south of the Beaver Flat Tops.
Please note: During fall months water sources along the trail are very limited. Numerous livestock trails braid the trail. Use of GPS/compass/topo map strongly recommended.
