Unaweep #601

The Unaweep Trail #601 travels through a diverse mixture of vegetation types and offers many wildlife and scenic viewing opportunities. Overall the trail does not gain or lose a significant amount of elevation and is a fairly easy hike despite its length. At the intersection of the East Unaweep Trail #612, East Unaweep forks right (east) and is open tomotocycle use. The Unaweep Trail forks left (west) and is open to hiking and horseback only.

Directions

NORTHERN ACCESS:

From the Northern Forest Boundary, travel 3.8 miles south on the Divide Road, FSR #402, to its intersection with the Big Creek Road, FSR #403. Travel south and west on the Big Creek Road for 6.3 miles to the location where the Big Creek Road ends and becomes the Basin Trail #603. Turn left (west) on the Basin Trail and travel approximately 2.5 miles to the intersection with the Little Bear Lake Trail #660. Turn right (north) onto the Little Bear Lake Trail and travel 0.45 miles to its intersection with the Unaweep Trail.

SOUTHERN ACCESS:

Travel south from the Northern Forest Boundary on the Divide Road, FSR #402 for approximately 9 miles to the Uranium Road, FSR #404, intersection. Turn right onto the Uranium Road and travel 2.9 miles to its junction with the Rim Road, FSR #416. Turn right (northwest) onto the Rim Road and travel approximately 4.0 miles to the Upper Snowshoe Trailhead.
