Twin Lakes Trail #402
The Twin Lakes Trail #402 begins at Forest Service Road 738, Brush Creek Road, and ends at the pretty alpine lakes. Most of this trail travels through the Maroon Bells-Snowmass Wilderness and provides excellent views of Pearl Mountain and Castle Peak. It is a fairly steep climb at the beginning, but levels off in about half a mile for an easier climb to the lakes. The trail passes through forest before entering open meadows with nice camping spots.

Open to hiking and horseback. Wilderness restrictions apply.
- A permit is required for overnight stays in Maroon Bells-Snowmass Wilderness Overnight Permit Zones. This permit must be acquired in advance at recreation.gov.
- For all other overnight trips to the Maroon Bells-Snowmass Wilderness, registration is required at the trailhead.

Directions
From Crested Butte: Travel south on Hwy 135 for approximately 1.8 miles to County Road 738, Brush Creek Road. Follow CR 738 for approximately 11.6 miles to the beginning of the trail on the west side of the road.
