Spud Pass Trail #824

Spud Pass Trail #824 begins at an intersection about a mile up the Raggeds Trail #820 from the Raggeds Trailhead and ends at Deep Creek Lake. The first mile is outside the Raggeds Wilderness, where it works its way through aspen forest and parks for about 2 miles before beginning a steep switchback climb. The climb is very steep and rocky in spots as it works its way up the mountain just south of Deep Creek. Eventually it levels out and crosses a branch of Deep Creek as it turns northwest toward Deep Creek Lake. The trail works its way through conifer forest as it slowly climbs the last mile to the lake. Watch for wildlife as mountain goats are often seen in this area.
