Simms Mesa Trail #115

The Simms Mesa Trail #115 begins at Forest Service Road #510, Dave Wood Road, and ends at Forest Service Road #574, Simms Mesa Road.  It the first half mile the trail crosses a draw and then wanders across Happy Canyon.  After about 1.6 miles, it descends into the Happy Canyon Creek drainage and crosses Happy Canyon Creek. The trail ends at FSR #574 in about another half a mile.

General Information

From Montrose: Travel west on Highway 90 for approximately 3.4 miles to the intersection with 6250 Road, Dave Wood Road. Turn south onto 6250 Road and continue for approximately 11.3 miles to the Simms Mesa/Dave Wood Trailhead at the National Forest Boundary. The Simms Trail begins about 0.25 miles south of the forest boundary.  From the Trailhead, this trail can also be accessed by following the Simms Mesa Interpretive Loop Trail #115.1A for approximately 0.7 miles.
