Short Point Bench Trail #651

The Short Point Bench Trail #651 travels on a bench above North Fork Escalante Creek and can serve as an alternative route back to the Brushy Ridge Road, FSR #409, from the Short Point Cutoff Trail #651.1.  The trail travels at a level grade for most of its distance through oakbrush and small aspen stands.

Directions

UPPER ACCESS:

Travel 15.8 miles south on the Divide Road, FSR 402, from the Northern Forest Boundary to its intersection with the Dominguez Road, FSR #408.  Turn left (northeast) onto the Dominguez Road and travel 0.3 miles to its junction with the Brushy Ridge Road, FSR #409.  Turn right (southeast) onto the Brushy Ridge Road and travel 5.4 miles to its junction with the Escalante Land and Cattle Access Road, FSR #409.1A, on the southwest flank of Snipe Mountain.  Turn right (west) onto the Escalante Land and Cattle Access Road and travel for 0.2 miles to the Upper Short Point Bench Trailhead about 150 yards east of a private land gate.

LOWER ACCESS:

Travel south on the Divide Road, FSR #402, for 15.8 miles from the Northern Forest Boundary to the Dominguez Road, FSR #408, junction.  Turn left (northeast) onto the Dominguez Road and travel 0.3 miles to its intersection with the Brushy Ridge Road, FSR #409.  Turn right (southeast) onto the Brushy Ridge Road and travel 8.1 miles to its intersection with the Short Point Cutoff Trail #651.1 which forks right (south) off the Brushy Ridge Road.  The lower trailhead for the Short Point Bench Trail is located 1.64 miles down the Short Point Cutoff Trail from its upper trailhead.
