Dominguez Cutoff Trail #629

The Dominguez Cutoff Trail #629 serves as a connecting route from the Forest Service Road #418 near the BLM/Forest Boundary to the Dominguez Road, FSR #408 near Dominguez Ridge. The trail descends gradually from the upper trailhead through open sage parks and mixed pinyon-juniper and oakbrush. As the trail descends toward sage basin, Gibbler Mountain is visible to the northeast. In sage flats the trail levels out until it gradually descends through mixed Pinon Juniper, Sage and Oakbrush.

Directions

UPPER ACCESS:

Travel 15.4 miles south on the Divide Road, FSR #402, from the Northern Forest Boundary to the Dominguez Road, FSR #408, intersection. Turn left and travel northeast on the Dominguez Road for 6.9 miles to the Upper Dominguez Cutoff Trailhead.

LOWER ACCESS:

Turn south off the Divide Road, FSR #402, approximately ½ mile before the Northern Forest Boundary onto the Dominguez Road, FSR #408 and travel to the BLM/Forest Boundary, a cattleguard crosses the Dominguez Road. Immediately after crossing this cattleguard, turn right (west) off the Dominguez Road, onto W408.3, and travel 2.1 miles south and west on W408.3 to the Lower Dominguez Cutoff Trailhead.
