Beaver Trail #516

The Beaver Trail #516 serves as a connecting route for Porter Flat Road, FSR #266 from the old Buzzard Campground on the northern section to the southern section near Lenna Peak.  What is now the Beaver Trail in the past was the northern-most section of the old Silver Spruce Pack Trail. The trail travels down the Beaver Creek drainage from the southern trailhead through mixed aspen, oakbrush and open parks to the northern trailhead near the confluence of Beaver Creek and Buzzard Creek.

Directions

NORTHERN ACCESS:

Travel east on Highway 330 for14.2 miles from the Plateau Creek Bridge in Collbran to the Buzzard Divide Road, FSR #265 intersection.  Turn south on the Buzzard Divide Rd. and travel 2.1 miles to Porter Flat Road, FSR #266 intersection.  Turn right (south) onto FSR #266 and travel 1.4 miles to the spur road that provides access to the old Buzzard Campground, FSR #266.2B.  Turn right onto FSR #266.2B and travel down to the Buzzard Campground along Buzzard Creek.  The Beaver Northern Trailhead is located on the edge of the old campground along Buzzard Creek. 

SOUTHERN ACCESS:

Travel east 14.2 miles on Highway 330 from the Plateau Creek Bridge in Collbran, Buzzard Divide Road, FSR #265, inersection.  Turn right (south) onto FDR #265 and travel 2.1 miles to the FDR #266 intersection, just past the Hightower Guard Station.  Turn right (south) onto FDR #266 and travel approximately 4.9 miles to the Beaver Southern Trailhead.
