Cascade Campground

This campground is located in the canyon bottom along the Clark Fork River. The site is adjacent to the highway and across the road from the river, and forested with Douglas-fir, ponderosa pine and western larch providing abundant shade. Fishing opportunities are available at the river. The Iron Mountain Trail #242, historic wagon road, terminus is in the campground.

Scan & Pay option available, but you must have a Recreation.gov account.

General Information

A picnic table and fire ring is available at each campsite. A primitive boat ramp is available on Clark Fork River across the highway from the campground. Garbage service is available. It is 13 miles to groceries in Plains, Montana from this location.

The campground is first-come, first served. Open early May- late September. 

Arrival is no earlier than 2:00pm. Departure is no later than 11:00am. 

Please visit the Forest's Alerts page for information on restrictions, in particular please review the Food/Wildlife Attractant Storage Order to help reduce the likelihood of human-to-bear conflicts. 

Overnight Use:
Single Site: $15 per night (2 vehicles included per site)
Group Site: $20 per night
Additional Vehicle Fee: $5 per night

Pets must be on leash in the campground.

From St. Regis, travel 18 miles east on state highway 135. Campground is travel the south side of the highway.

Only at the adjacent Iron Mountain trailhead. Check with the local District for overnight request with stock animals.
