IPNF Glass Container Restrictions
This order prohibits possessing, using, or depositing glass containers in certain beaches, day use areas, and along certain rivers and bodies of water for the protection of public health and safety and for environmental concerns.

PROHIBITIONS
Pursuant to 16 U.S.C. § 551 and 36 C.F.R. § 261.50 (a), the following are prohibited on the National Forest System (NFS) lands on the Idaho Panhandle National Forests, described below and shown on the attached map incorp rated into this Order as Exhibits A-D (the “Described Area”):
Glass Container Restriction:
1. Possessing, using, or depositing any glass containers on the following described beach areas, day use areas, public access areas, or other areas described herein 36 C.F.R. § 261.58(cc).
EXEMPTIONS
Pursuant to 36 C.F.R. § 261.50(e), the following persons are exempt from this Order: No Exemptions. All described actions are prohibited by all persons.
DESCRIBED AREA
1. Along or within 100 feet of the high-water mark of the St. Joe River or its tributaries.
2. Along or within 100 feet of the high-water mark of the Coeur d’Alene River or its tributaries.
3. Within the beach areas of Green Bay Campground, Whiskey Rock Campground, and Sam Owens Campground.
4. Within the beach areas of Luby Bay Campground, Osprey Campground, Outlet Bay Campground, Reeder Bay Campground, Beaver Creek Campground, Kalispel Public Boat Launch, Ledgewood Day Use beach area, and Kalispel Bay Day Use beach area.
5. Within the beach areas or along the Priest Lake lakeshore, the Upper Priest Lake lakeshore, and along the Priest River.
6. Within the beach areas of Kalispel Island, Bartoo Island, Eightmile Island, and Fourmile Island.
7. Within the Boat Launch area at Smith Lake.
PURPOSE
The purpose of this Order is to mitigate public health, safety, and environmental concerns related to the prohibited actions described above.
IMPLEMENTATION
1. This Order shall be in effect from September 10th, 2024, at 00:00 (midnight) through September 10th, 2029, at 24:00, unless rescinded

3. Unless otherwise expressly defined in this Order, the terms used in this Order are defined by the regulations of the Secretary of Agriculture, 36 C.F.R. Chapter II, Parts 200-299. If there are terms in this Order that are not expressly defined in the Order or 36 C.F.R. Chapter II, Parts 200-299, their meaning shall be determined
by their plain language definitions.
4. A violation of the above prohibitions is punishable as a Class B misdemeanor by a fine of not more than $5,000 for individuals and $10,000 for organizations, or by imprisonment for not more than six months, or both. 16 U.S.C. § 551; 18 U.S.C. §§ 3559, 3571, and 3581.

6. This Order supersedes any previous Orders prohibiting the same or similar acts in the same Described Area.
