Meyers Creek Cabin

Meyers Creek Cabin is located in the western part of the Beartooth Ranger District. Meyers Creek Cabin is an historic ranger station which has been used by the Forest Service since 1906. From that time until the mid-1960's the cabin was the headquarters for the Stillwater District. The cabin continues to be used today by the Forest Service, though it is available for rent each summer in the months of May, June, and July.

  • Sleeps: 6 (4 single beds, 1 queen size bed, 1 large couch)
  • Pets: No
  • Water:  water is non-potable. Guests may wish to bring a water filter or provide their own water if they are concerned about quality or taste.
  • Equipped with: electricity, refrigerator, cook stove, heat, water, indoor toilet, shower, basic cookware, dishes, utensils, outdoor campfire ring.
  • Not included: bedding, towels, dish soap, specialty cooking items, and other related items are not provided.
  • Camping or RV use on the grounds around Meyers Creek is not allowed.
  • Maximum stay limit: 5 days/nights

The cabin is accessible by vehicle, but 4-wheel drive is recommended during wet weather. There are many options for hiking in the area, including the Meyers Creek Trail (#27), which begins near the cabin. The main Stillwater River Trail (#24) is 16 miles south of Meyers Creek. The Meyers Creek area offers recreation for hikers, mountain bikers, equestrians, and fishermen. Groceries, gasoline and camping supplies available 8 miles east in Nye, MT.

There are two corrals, a watering tank, and hitching rails for horses. Hay or feed that is brought in must be certified weed free. Bears frequent this area; all food must be kept in approved containers or within the cabin.

Directions

Directions from Beartooth Ranger District office:
Drive north on US Hwy 212 towards Red Lodge for two miles. Turn left (west) onto MT-78. Drive 30 miles and turn left (west) onto MT-419. Drive 20.4 miles and turn right (north) to stay on MT-419. Drive 0.9 miles and turn left (west) on Limestone Rd. Drive 4.7 miles and bear right onto Meyers Creek Rd/Lodgepole Rd. After 1.9 miles veer left towards Meyers Creek cabin.
