Much of the Yellowstone Ranger District is south of Livingston, MT and Interstate 90. Approximately one million acres, the district covers a large portion of the Absaroka-Beartooth Wilderness and the eastern half of the Gallatin Range. North of Big Timber, MT and the interstate, the Crazy Mountains are also largely within the district's management. Neighboring communities include Livingston, Big Timber, Clyde Park, and Wilsall.
