Heroes Project at Icehouse Canyon

The Forest Service has signed a Decision Memo for the construction, operation, and maintenance of several buildings at the site of the former Icehouse Canyon Lodge and Resort, which burned down in the late 1980's. This site will offer mountaineering opportunities to disabled veterans, a single cabin for lodging, guiding services, and a store which will be open to public. The project will increase security and presence at the site, and provide amenities at one of the most popular trailheads in the Angeles National Forest. The Angeles National Forest values and appreciates all public comments received on this project. We have included additional mitigation measures in the project decision to address potential impacts identified by the public. We welcome further dialog and public involvement throughout the permitting and construction phases.
