Learn what it means to be a lumberjack at a historical logging encampment between the years 1840-1890 as reenactors take you through what it was like to live as a 19th century lumberjack. The event times are Saturday, July 6th, 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. and Sunday, July 7th, 10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
Journey into Michigan’s lumbering and immigrant past as Lumberman's Monument hosts Michael Deren's Shanty Boy, Jim Murphey. Using concertina, button accordion and bones and fiddle, Jim will involve you in a memorable lumber camp experience while recreating the great lumber boom of the 19th Century. (you’ll learn a lot). This program is for all ages! Program starts at 1 p.m.
Hike our Discovery Trail with a ranger and learn about forest management, history, local wildlife, and local plant life. The hike begins at 1:00 p.m. and will finish at our beautiful sand dune overlook.
Come and spend the afternoon finding out what the owls ate as you dissect an owl pellet. Owl Pellets are formed when owls swallow their prey whole. Then they regurgitate a pellet containing the bones and other indigestible parts of what they ate. Limit 60 People - Registration required- Call (989) 362 – 8961. Please register by July 15th. Did you know that vampires are swimming in the Great Lakes? Well, vampires of the fish variety! Beginning about 150 years ago, the Great Lakes were invaded by sea lampreys – a parasitic fish native to the Atlantic Ocean. Sea lampreys drink the blood of Great Lakes fish and can kill fish. Join us with Great Lakes Fishery Commission (GLFC) communications associate Dr. Andrea Miehls. The event starts at 1:00 p.m.

Schooner Captain takes the audience on a voyage of music and history of the Great Lakes. Using accordion and concertina he shares the songs, stories, history, and resources of the Great Lakes region. Topics include geography, transportation, history (beaver, lumber, fishing, iron, and copper) and conservation. The event starts at 1:00 p.m.
Come out to Oscoda Veterans Park, located at 4000 N Skeel Ave, Oscoda, MI, to celebrate Smokey’s 80th Birthday. There will be fire trucks, informational booths, the history of Smokey Bear and more! The event is from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
