Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness Entry Points

The map and charts on this page are intended to provide a general idea of where Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness entry points and Forest Service permit issuing stations are located on the Superior National Forest, as well as some basic information about each entry point.

For information about Boundary Waters permits go to:

Passes and Permits Page   Recreation.gov

When planning your trip we highly recommend that you replace this information with maps, guidebooks and the advice of your outfitter and/or guide, if you decide to use one. Maps and guidebooks are available from BWCAW permit issuing stations and cooperators (a cooperator is a business that has an agreement with the Forest Service to issue BWCAW permits at their location).

A list of these permit issuing stations and cooperators is provided on Recreation.gov. These businesses may also assist you in locating guides and outfitters in the area you plan to visit. A compass and accurate map are essential for backcountry travel.

BWCAW maps show the location of designated campsites and portage trails, and are available from:

McKenzie Maps, Inc.   W.A. Fisher Maps   Voyageur Maps, Inc.   Trails Illustrated Maps
