The Sierra National Forest A-a-T program utilizes the hard work and dedication and stewardship of volunteers and helps coordinate work on wilderness, motorized and other trails on the forest.
While adopting a trail may seem a daunting task, we’ve identified ways to help encourage people to tackle what they feel comfortable doing. Whether it be joining an established group for a “one a done tail” day, or deciding to start a new nonprofit designed and protect wilderness trails, the sky is the limit.

Without the thousands of hours volunteers put into trail work every year and the status of our trails would be caused
