 The pond on Bishop Creek, below South Lake.   Prepare for winter conditions. Bring appropriate clothing, equip your vehicle with survival essentials and check weather forecast. Many roads on White Mountain Ranger District are not cleared of snow in winter.

The Ancient Bristlecone Pine Forest Visitor Center is closed for the season.

Wilderness Permits are required year round for all overnight wilderness travel, even in winter. Permits for trips beginning during quota season, May 1st through November 1st can be reserved on www.recreation.gov
