Around 2:00 pm on Friday, August 4, smoke was reported near Rebel Creek Trail about 13 miles south of Blue River, OR along Aufderheide Scenic Byway (Forest Service Road 19). The Rebel Fire is currently 75 acres and is burning eastward into the Three Sisters Wilderness. Approximately 100 firefighters and Super Scoopers are drafting water out of the Cougar Reservoir.  For public safety, the Lane County Sheriff’s Department Marine Patrol will be coordinating the water traffic.

People travelling along the Aufderheide Scenic Byway (Forest Service Road 19) should expect to see increased fire traffic and smoke. For public safety, Forest Service Road 19 has been closed for public use from Hard Rock Campground on the north to Frissell Crossing to the South.  Both campgrounds are open to the public. Rebel Trailhead and Red Diamond Campgrounds are closed.
