Beginning at noon on Thursday, July 3, the area closure north of Lemolo Lake was reduced in size and Forest Service Road 700 reopened for through traffic.

The Bunker Hill Fire, at 388 acres and 65 percent contained, continues burning north of Lemolo Lake. Forest officials are keeping Bunker Hill Campground closed along with the portion of the Lemolo segment of the North Umpqua Trail from the junction of Forest Road 2610 and Lemolo Lake Dam until further notice. Forest Road 2612 also remains closed from the junction of Forest Road 2610 southeast to junction of Forest Road 2614.

The area closure was reduced to an area described as beginning where White Mule Creek crosses Forest Road 2610, continuing northeast along White Mule Creek to the junction of Forest Road 700, then southeast along the 700 road to the junction of Forest Road 2612, continuing west along FS Road 2612 to the junction of FS Road 2614 westerly along the north shoreline of Lemolo Lake, to the beginning point of FS Road 2610 and White Mule Creek crossing.

Detailed closure information is located at www.fs.usda.gov/Internet/FSE_DOCUMENTS/stelprd3843331.pdf

With continued high temperatures the Umpqua National Forest staff anticipates changing to an Industrial Fire Precaution Level III and Public Use Restrictions in all wilderness by July 9.
