Get your gear out of storage, camping season is here! Recreation crews on the Umpqua National Forest worked round-the-clock to prepare campgrounds and trails for summer visitors.

Most campgrounds are open and many sites can be reserved at www.recreation.gov. Camping fees range from $10 to $20 per night and $5 per additional vehicle. Camping is limited to 14 consecutive days in some areas.

Recreationists are asked to use caution while out in the woods. Down trees and washouts on roads and trails are always risks as the seasons change. This year, water levels are lower than usual, making it difficult to launch large boats in certain areas. As lower water levels signal drier conditions, the public is asked to be extra careful with campfires.

Windigo Pass Road (Forest Road 60) is now open for travel to Kelsey Valley or the Deschutes National Forest.
