Copeland Creek High Risk Culvert Replacement
Description: Completion of Planning (NEPA - National Environmental Protection Act) and designed for stream crossing. Design includes culvert replacements that meet the capacity for passing Q100 flood events and to help reduce potential failure due to capacity, piping, degradation and plugging. The culvert replacements will be identified as “essential” projects in the Copeland Creep WRAP, as part of the Watershed Condition Framework.

Copeland Creek Watershed Level 1 Storm Proofing
Description: Conduction NEPA and production of a decision document that would recommend and allow for the implementation of agreed upon restoration management actions for the conservation of at-risk anadromous fish species in the Copeland Creek Tier 1 Key Watershed.

Middle North Umpqua & Steamboat Creek Terrestrial Habitat Restoration
Description: Mitigation of the disturbance of forest vegetation resulting from hydropower project implementation. This project reduces conifer stocking levels by pre-commercially thinning 306 acres of 20-25 year-old plantation in Late Successional Reserve within key watersheds adjacent to the utility corridor.

Description: Implementation of baseline spawning and rearing habitat surveys for Pacific and Western Brooke lamprey upstream of Soda Springs Dam.

Lemolo Reservoir Fishery Monitoring Project
Description: Investigation and monitoring of the fishery in Lemolo Lake to better understand and recue impacts on water quality and recreation.

Lemolo Lake Water Quality Investigation, Prevention, Public Health
Description: Improvement of water quality in Lemolo Lake and downstream in the North Umpqua River. Reduction of potential for aquatic invasive species being introduced or leaving the lake. Protecting public health through surveillance monitoring of potentially toxic algae blooms.

Stinkhole Western Pond Turtle Mortality Reduction
Description: Conduct a NEPA analysis to revise site plans to reduce road caused mortality of adult and juvenile pond turtles and to restore protection of existing nesting locations. Culverts would be installed to provide safe passage for adult and hatchling turtles between the known nesting site and Stinkhole Pond. Vehicle parking control structures would also be installed.

Macro Invertebrate Study on Selected North Umpqua River Tributaries
Description: Re-sampling of up to 15 sites in the watersheds listed above, have samples analyzed, and have a Biotic indices report generated through contract. This would be used in conjunction with baseline data established during previous studies in the same areas to improve anadromous fish rearing habitat below the dam and increase the numbers of downstream migrating smolts.

Long Creek Fish Passage Culvert
Description: Replaced the undersized perched fish barrier culvert with a stream simulation buried pope arch able to convey 100 year flow events and allow for aquatic organism passage at all stream flows. This will allow for migratory fish species to enter spawning habitat in Longs Creek.

Canton Creek False Brome Removal
Description: Treatments of False Brome to help protect the native ecology of the Federal Lands we manage. This includes hand pulling and removal of False Brome populations for approximately two miles along the Canton Creek and Steamboat drainages on both Forest Service and Bureau of Land Management lands.
