Our volunteers and partners are the heartbeat of the Forest Service. Stewardship of the national forests is everyone's responsibility. The national forests and grasslands are here for the public to enjoy because of the many people that have served over numerous years to preserve, protect, and improve them. Now is the perfect time to partner with us to help protect these great lands!

Why Volunteer?

The Tonto National Forest is a resource we all own, and volunteering is one way to take an active role in land management by being a steward of the land we all enjoy. There are multiple benefits to volunteering, such as...

• Diversifying your job experience
• Providing community service
• Educating the public about natural resources

Ways to Volunteer

• The types of work a volunteer can perform are many and varied.
• NOTE: volunteers cannot perform duties that are inherently government work such as enforcement and firefighting.
• Each volunteer’s talents and skills are matched with their work preferences to obtain a role that satisfies them and best fulfills the mission of the Forest Service.
• Each volunteer’s time commitment will vary:
• Work on a part-time, full-time, or one-time basis.
• Serve over several months, a season, or year-round.
• Training will be provided on an as-needed basis.
