The recreation conditions report displays area conditions for popular campgrounds, trails, and recreation areas on the Siuslaw National Forest. Remember, conditions can change rapidly, especially in wilderness areas and any time in winter. Always check the tides when you are headed for the beach.

WEATHER

Area weather reports: link to NOAA (National Weather Service Forecast Office, Portland, OR). Additional coastal weather information  is available from the Hatfield Marine Science Center in Newport, OR including sunrise-sunset tables, satellite images, buoy reports, and wave forecasts.

TIDES

Tide predictions provided from the Hatfield Marine Science Center in Newport, OR. Be sure to check the tidal adjustments page to get a more accurate prediction for the stretch of coast you are visiting.

TRAILS

Trails are generally open year round unless there is a washout or fallen trees block the trail. Our trail conditions summary lists the last known conditions on some of the more popular trails. Visit the hiking page on our recreation section for all trails and details.  

CAMPGROUNDS AND DAY USE SITES

The Siuslaw National Forest has close to 40 developed campgrounds. The Oregon Coast has a busy tourist season from May through October and campgrounds often fill quickly. Most campgrounds on the Forest can be reserved in advance through recreation.gov. Initiate a reservation online at recreation.gov or call toll free 1-877-444-6777 (international 518-885-3639).
