There were no new fires reported on the Salmon-Challis National Forest last week.

Cat Canyon (June 13):  The lightning fire is located approximately 21 miles southeast of Challis on the Challis-Yankee Fork Ranger District.  The 11 acre fire is contained and controlled. 

To date, there has been two (2) wildfires reported on the Salmon-Challis National Forest.  One (1) of these fires have been declared out.

Weather:  Dry/seasonably warm conditions with breezy afternoon winds will continue through Tuesday ahead of an approaching Pacific trough for Wednesday.  This will bring isolated showers/storms of which will shift to along the Montana border for Thursday as a cold front passes through, bringing an uptick in winds.  This front will bring cooler conditions for Thursday/Friday ahead of warmer conditions back for the weekend.  Another cold front is then expected Sunday.

Ensure your campfire is dead out.  If it is too hot to touch, it is too hot to leave!  One Less Spark Means One Less Wildfire.

Nationally, there are 16 uncontained large fires being managed under a full suppression strategy and 19 large fires managed under a strategy other than full suppression.
