Most of the Wilderness lies within the boundaries of the Angeles National Forest and their contact information is at the bottom of this page. The San Bernardino portion contains 2,401 acres near the rugged headwaters of Paiute Canyon.

Campfires are not allowed. Gas stoves are allowed with a free California Campfire Permit. Please practice Leave no Trace ethics while visiting this wilderness area.

The Angeles National Forest portion of the wilderness has traditionally received heavy water-related recreational use. A Wilderness Permit is required for entry into the Sheep Mountain Wilderness from their East Fork Trailhead.
