Monitoring Accomplishment Report for 2012

Sierra Nevada Forest Plan Implementation

Pacific Fisher climbs between two trees in a forest environment. In 2012 the Forest Service, Pacific Southwest Region, which includes California, Hawaii, Guam, and the Trust Territories of the Pacific Islands, continued several long term monitoring studies in the Sierra Nevada. The studies focus on developing scientifically valid assessments of the status of several species and increasing understanding of how forest and rangeland management under direction in the Sierra Nevada Forest Plan Amendment (SNFPA) Record of Decision 2004 may affect species, ecosystems, and processes. This year, we also feature a report on the Kings River Fisher Project, conducted by scientists with the USFS Pacific Southwest Research Station on the Sierra NF.
