- Current Activity Polygon feature classes from all 18 forest are appended into a single layer. Accomplishment data was joined from the FACTS tabular database on the SUID field. The layer now includes data from 1/01/96 to 2/1/2016. This feature class was created on February 2, 2016. FACTS is a nationally supported application that tracks land based activities through the NEPA, Layout, and Accomplished stages of a project. The features in GIS represent the activity unit on which these activities occur and are depicted in GIS as polygons, lines or points. This feature class contains polygons only. GIS features may appear in one or more of the three subtypes within the feature class depending on the stage the activity is in that the feature represents. Sub-type "Stage 1" represents the NEPA Stage - The activity units are identified in a signed NEPA 'decision document'. Sub-type "Stage 2" represents the Layout Stage - Once the activity unit is 'laid out' on the ground. Sub-type "Stage 3" represents the Accomplished Stage - When the activity has been accomplished (note - activities have different definitions for determining when they are accomplished. For instance, contracted activities are accomplished when the contract is awarded while work performed by Forest Service employees is accomplished when the work is completed on the ground).All activities have an identification number named SUID. This ID is 19 characters in length and is a concatenation of many fields. - The Forest Service Activity Tracking System (FACTS) is an activity tracking system for all levels of the Forest Service. It supports timber sales in conjunction with TIM Contracts and Permits; tracks and monitors NEPA decisions; tracks KV & BD trust fund plans at the timber sale level, reporting at the National level; and generates National, Regional, Forest, and/or District Reports. This polygon layer provides a "snapshot" of the last 20 years of accomplishments from FACTS as reported by the 18 National Forests in Region 5 at the time the data was queried.
