The State, Private and Tribal Forestry organization of the USDA Forest Service reaches across the boundaries of national forests to states, tribes, communities, and non-industrial private landowners. State, Private and Tribal Forestry provides financial and technical assistance to landowners, resource managers, and communities to produce ecological, social, and economic benefits for the American people.

The states encompassed within the Forest Service's Northern Region (Region 1) are Northern Idaho, Montana, North Dakota, and parts of South Dakota and Washington. The states encompassed with the Forest Service's Intermountain Region (Region 4) are Southern Idaho, Nevada, Utah, and parts of California and Wyoming.
