Greater Prescott Trails Plan
The Greater Prescott Trails Planning 6th Annual Community Meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, May 8, 2019 at the Grace Sparkes Activity Center (824 E. Gurley St., in Prescott) from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Doors open at 5:30 if you care to come early and socialize.
The Greater Prescott Trails Planning (GPTP) effort invites you to help develop a broadly supported, comprehensive trails plan for the Greater Prescott area. Using a collaborative, “all hands, all lands” approach, this plan will include all uses and emphasize a safe and sustainable trail system.
The greater Prescott area extends from Chino Valley to the north, south to Goodwin, west to Tonto Road, and as far east as Prescott Valley. GPTP is open to ALL trail users, recreationists, adjacent landowners, organizations, local governments, agencies and others interested in collaborative trails planning.

- Is user friendly and accommodates multiple user interests and skill levels
- Guides land managers and leads to on-the-ground implementation of priority trail projects
- Improves connectivity, community access and enhances the socio-economic value of outdoor recreation
- Minimizes conflicts among trail enthusiasts and reduces the need for user-created trails
- Stays within the capacity of the community and agencies to maintain
- Minimizes impact to the resources and to adjacent residential areas
History of Greater Prescott Trails Planning
To learn more about how GPTP originated, and to see its early efforts--many of which lead to trails that are now completed and part of the Prescott National Forest Trails System--please visit the Greater Prescott Trails website. The Prescott Circle Trail is perhaps the crown jewel product of GPTP to date. It is a 50-mile loop trail trail that encircles the City of Prescott across jurisdictional boundaries of City, County, national forest, and private lands.
