Ongoing Trail Restoration with BAER funds.

Trail restoration after recent fires is ongoing along the Middle Fork of the Feather River.  While fire crews battled fires on other parts of the forest,  the Mt. Hough Ranger District trail crew, along with several volunteers, were able to blaze ahead with trail restoration in the Wild and Scenic River area.   Using Burned Area Emergency Response (BAER) funds from 2020’s North Complex fire, the Mt. Hough Trail Crew has improved and restored several of the trails along the Middle Fork that were damaged in last year’s wildfire.

A full nine miles of logout and tread work located between Lookout Rock, and the Middle Fork of the Feather River was completed on the Pacific Crest Trail, as well as maintenance on Oddie Bar, No Ear Bar, Butte Bar and Lost Cabin Springs trails.  New signage has been installed along the way helping hikers to identify the trails as they traverse the Wild and Scenic River
