PINE-GRASSLAND HABITAT MANAGEMENT
FOR RCWs AND OTHER SPECIES OF
PLANTS
AND ANIMALS

The literature of the pine bluestem project is constantly changing with new projects and publications. The list below includes many projects directly related to management of red-cockaded woodpeckers, as well as other aspects of land management of plants and animals within the 155,000 acres of the pine-bluestem project area in western Arkansas and similar habitats in eastern Oklahoma (including McCurtain County Wilderness Area).

The most up to date list is available via email by contacting warren.montague@usda.gov. You may also contact the the Poteau Ranger District, Ouachita NF at PO Box 2255, Waldron, AR 72958 or call 479-637-4174. Comments, corrections, and suitable additions are always welcome.

Visitors are welcome at district offices in Waldron, Booneville, and Mena. The Poteau district office in Waldron features displays illustrating aspects of the project. A virtual tour with brief text and photos of the project area can be viewed by visiting the Pine-Bluestem Buffalo Road Tour page.
