Avenza PDF App for Smartphones
AVENZA PDF MAPS is a free mobile map application that enables you to download maps over a Wi-Fi or cellular network to read on your smartphone or tablet. Use your device’s built-in GPS to track your location on the map. The beauty is that you can access these maps and locate yourself even when you’re offline (no WiFi or Cell connection) because they’re saved to the device’s memory and the maps are geo-referenced.

Forest Maps Available on the Avenza App:
All maps available on Avenza for the entire Southern Region (Region 8) of the Forest Service are listed here.
Maps available for the Ouachita National Forest

Visitor maps available across the country, including links to purchase a paper copy and a digital link to purchase a map directly from Avenza: https://www.fs.usda.gov/visit/maps
The MVUM's and Traveling the Backcountry maps are updated annually by the forest.
If you have an existing map on the Avenza app, please note that the maps do not automatically update in the app. The old map must be deleted from the Avenza app before downloading the newest maps.
Locating Maps in the Avenza App:
- Load Avenza App from Google Play Store or Apple Store

Go to Store (shopping cart Icon)

Search listing of available maps per your location or search for specific map name or activity

Once the map is located, click "get map" and it will begin downloading to your phone.
Option 2 for locating maps in Avenza:
Using an Internet browser (such as Google Chrome or Safari), type in the map that you are specifically looking for and include the words Avenza in the search description. For example, type in "Avenza Jessieville MVUM" or "Avenza Boston Mountain MVUM." The search results will show a direct link to the map in Avenza that you can download.
