As we reach the cooler months of Autumn🍂 some recreation areas in the Modoc National Forest are being affected by freezing❄️ overnight temperatures. As a result, water systems💧 are being shut down for the season and some campgrounds will have limited services and/or no longer have fees. The following are the areas that will have limited to no service.

Doublehead/ Big Valley RD Water System Shutdowns:

Medicine Lake Recreation Area- No fees for camping due to limited services. The water system has been shut down and trash service has been discontinued. Visitors recreating in the Medicine recreation area campgrounds will need to bring in their water and pack out their trash. Bathrooms will remain open and serviced.

Willow Creek Campground- Water has been shut off at this campground, Visitors are advised to bring their water and pack out their trash. Bathrooms will remain open and serviced.

Warner Mtn RD Water System Shutdowns:

Cave and Lily Lake Campground and Day Use area, Soup Springs Campground, Mill Creek Falls Campground Howard’s Gulch Campground, Patterson Campground, Stough Reservoir Campground

The water has been shut down to these recreation areas. Visitors to the above campgrounds are advised to bring their water and pack out their trash.

The following water systems will remain on into October, mostly dependent on weather: Pepperdine Campground, East Creek Campground, and Blue Lake Campground

Campground Information for all Districts is subject to change without further notice. Please bring your drinking water with you as systems will be shut down. Pack in and pack out what you bring in, such as trash and waste. Please continue to enjoy your National Forest and public lands and all they have to offer.
