Jennifer Eberlien assumed her duties this week as the new forest supervisor for the Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest. Eberlien, who began her career 20 years ago as an archeology technician, came from the Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forest, Ore., where she was the deputy forest supervisor. Her experience spans from recreation, planning and policy, natural resource management, legislative affairs, to working as a district ranger, chief of staff and forest supervisor. Her career has taken her to Montana, Utah, Oregon, Washington DC and overseas to South Korea. Originally from Wisconsin, she earned her master’s in anthropology/archeology at Northern Arizona University.

She looks forward to working with communities and partners. “Connecting with our public is important, especially here in the Puget Sound, where people have a passion for the outdoors and care for the environment,” she said. Eberlien lives in Everett, Wash., with her husband Matt and two cats. She enjoys hiking, walking, reading and is a self-proclaimed foodie.

The Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest manages 1.7 million acres on the west side of the Cascades, stretching north to the Canadian border and south to Mt. Rainier National Park. The forest employs about 140 people. Five million visitors recreate on the multi-use public land agency annually.
